Job Description

About the company

At El Rayo, we’re a group of people obsessed with art, design, Tequila and the amazing places they come from. That’s what started El Rayo back in 2019, and what we’re still all about today: a love for modern Mexico and its vibrant spirit – literally and figuratively.

Simply put, El Rayo is a beautifully crafted Tequila made from 100% slow-grown, hand-harvested agave in Jalisco’s mountains.

But it’s not just that. It's designed by creatives, for creatives. Working with designer Mario Hgno & local artists based in Guadalajara, we collectively created a brand inspired by Modern Mexico to share back home. We continue to partner with artists and makers, shining a light on the creativity and craft coming out of Mexico and beyond.

As a fast-growing brand, we’re looking for a Social Media whizz to help us bring our exciting plans to life and to our audience.

About the role

We’re looking for an ambitious, highly organised and creatively driven Social Media Executive to take ownership of our day-to-day social presence at a pivotal moment for El Rayo.

This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing brand with serious momentum – and to play a visible, hands-on role in shaping how the brand shows up to the world. You won’t be a small cog in a big machine. You’ll be trusted with real responsibility from day one.

You’ll live and breathe social media, confidently running our social channels day-to-day – planning, contributing and bringing ideas to life with pace and precision. While overall brand and campaign strategy will be set at a senior level, you’ll have the opportunity to flex your creative flair and your work will directly influence how we grow our audience, launch campaigns, partnerships and build cultural relevance.

Key Responsibilities

Social Channel Ownership

  • Plan and execute content calendars in collaboration with the Creative Lead. Plan, schedule, and publish engaging content across the brand’s owned channels (mainly Instagram - with scope to expand into other channels).
  • Bring campaigns, ideas, launches and brand moments to life through strong, detail-focused execution.
  • Stay deeply tapped into art, design and cultural trends.
  • Monitor marketing, social and industry trends, proactively identifying relevant opportunities.
  • Support on tracking and analysing social performance, supporting ongoing optimisation.

Community & Partnerships

  • Support the growth of an engaged online community, maintaining a consistent and confident brand voice.
  • Manage day-to-day community interaction (comments, DMs, engagement).
  • Support team on ideating and bringing partnerships to life – integrating partners, creators and earned content into the social calendar.

Content Creation & Production

  • Support the Creative Lead on content planning and campaign shoots with strong operational management.
  • Capture live content at key brand events and activations. Shoot and edit high-quality stills and video for lofi in-house content using phone and editing software.
  • Create on-brand assets across posts, stories and reels.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support wider marketing and on-trade initiatives.

Design & Digital Support

  • Assist in creating visual assets aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Support email marketing execution through content creation and repurposing.

What you may look like

  • Previous experience in-house, agency-side, or building and running your own successful social channels.
  • Highly organised and action-oriented. You take ownership and get things over the line.
  • Confident working independently and comfortable prioritising in a fast-moving environment.
  • Deeply plugged into social media and cultural trends.
  • Strong visual instincts with an interest in art, design and culture.
  • Capable across core content skills: copywriting, basic design and content calendar management.
  • Bonus points for experience with Adobe CC.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and excited to grow within a startup environment.

Perks and Extras

  • 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays.
  • Full private medical insurance.
  • Hybrid working.
  • Team socials, trips and events.
  • Annual personal development budget to hone the skills required to excel at the role.
  • Monthly wellness allowance to relax and unwind (however you see fit).
  • Discretionary annual bonus.
  • Free Tequila, obviously.

Further Details

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Salary: £32,500 + 10% discretionary bonus
  • Applications close 18th March

How to apply

Please send your CV and cover letter to careers@elrayotequila.com with the subject line ‘Social Media Executive’.

This is a creative, execution-led role, so we’d love your application to reflect that.

Tell us what excites you about El Rayo, what you think we’re doing well (or could do better), and what you’d bring to the role. We’re less interested in generic statements and more interested in you as a person; your taste, instincts and ideas.

And if you have something you’d like to share - a social channel, a side project, a creative experiment - we’d love to see it! Portfolio links, passion projects, content you’re proud of. Please include anything that helps us understand who you are, how you think and why we should hire you!
