Job Description

About JENKI

JENKI is a modern matcha brand built on respect for craft, clarity of flavour, and the belief that small daily rituals can make a meaningful difference. From farm to community, everything we do is guided by quality, creativity and care.

Our journey began with a frustration: the matcha available in the UK didn’t reflect the depth, freshness and vibrancy we’d experienced in Japan. Too often it was bitter, clumpy or overly sweet, prepared without the attention it deserves. We set out to change that - sourcing exceptional matcha, treating it with respect, and making it part of everyday life.

From our first market stall to multiple bars across London, JENKI has grown into a brand and community centred around thoughtful preparation, considered ingredients and a calm, modern approach to hospitality.

In 2025, JENKI was named Matcha Brand of the Year. We’re still early in our journey, and we’re looking for people who want to help shape what comes next.

Purpose of the Role

The Copy & Content Manager plays a central role in shaping how JENKI shows up in the world.

As the guardian of the JENKI voice, you will be responsible for creating and overseeing clear, compelling and culturally relevant content across every customer touchpoint - from bars, to JENKI.co.uk, emails to packaging, digital campaigns, partnerships and product launches.

This is a mid-weight, hands-on role for someone who loves writing and idea creation, but who can also think strategically, manage priorities, and guide others. You will report into the Marketing Director and work closely with teams across the business, as well as directly managing our Social Media Manager.

Your work will help translate JENKI’s values of quality, innovation, education and experience into content that feels modern, accessible and distinctly JENKI.

What You’ll Do

Brand Storytelling & Copy Ownership

  • Own and evolve the JENKI brand voice, ensuring consistency, quality and clarity across all written communication.
  • Act as the final sign-off for copy across the business, maintaining tone, accuracy and brand integrity.
  • Build tools to support you and the wider team to write and edit copy across all touchpoints including website, email, social, paid media, packaging, menus, in-bar materials and print.
  • Develop and manage the brand content calendar, aligning storytelling with product launches, seasonal moments and commercial priorities.
  • Bring JENKI’s sourcing, preparation and philosophy to life in a way that feels engaging, natural and easy to understand.

Creative Concepting & Visual Storytelling

  • Lead the development of creative concepts for brand, campaign and social content, taking ideas from initial brief through to execution.
  • Create visual mood boards, references and creative frameworks that clearly articulate the intended look, feel and narrative of each piece of content.
  • Set the creative direction for content shoots, ensuring all outputs feel cohesive, considered and distinctly JENKI.
  • Collaborate closely with the JENKI Graphic Designer to align copy, design and visual storytelling.
  • Source, brief and manage freelance photographers, videographers and other creative partners as required.
  • Present creative concepts and direction to the Marketing Director and Company Founders for sign-off, confidently articulating rationale and intent.

Campaigns & Product Launches

  • Lead copy and messaging development for new product launches, menu changes and brand campaigns.
  • Work closely with the brand and marketing teams to deliver integrated campaigns across digital, retail and social channels.
  • Ensure every launch has a clear, compelling narrative that supports both brand building and commercial performance.

Digital, Ecommerce & Performance Content

  • Partner with the Ecommerce Manager to create effective, on-brand copy for ads, landing pages and email journeys.
  • Refine messaging for conversion while maintaining JENKI’s considered tone and aesthetic.
  • Use performance insights to continually improve content effectiveness across channels.

Social & Community Content

  • Line manage and mentor the Social Media Manager, providing clear direction, feedback and support.
  • Collaborate closely on social content strategy, ensuring it reflects JENKI’s brand and content pillars and growth objectives.
  • Support community-building initiatives through thoughtful storytelling and culturally relevant content.

Collaboration & Brand Leadership

  • Work cross-functionally with retail, operations and product teams to ensure brand storytelling is consistent and aligned.
  • Support internal teams with clear messaging and copy guidance where needed.
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional brand projects, balancing creativity with structure and delivery.

What Success Looks Like

  • JENKI has a clear, distinctive and consistent voice across all channels.
  • Content feels calm, confident and culturally relevant, resonating with both new and existing customers.
  • Campaigns and launches are well-articulated, coherent and commercially effective.
  • Social content is on-brand, engaging and steadily growing in impact.
  • The Social Media Manager feels supported, guided and creatively empowered.

What You’ll Bring

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience owning and delivering copy and content for a premium lifestyle, food & drink or hospitality brand.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone across formats while staying true to a core brand voice.
  • Experience developing content strategies that support both brand and commercial goals.
  • Confidence working cross-functionally and managing multiple projects at once.
  • Experience managing or mentoring a direct report.
  • A considered, detail-oriented approach, with strong organisational skills.
  • Comfortable using insights and analytics to refine and improve content performance.

Values & Mindset

  • A genuine interest in food, drink, ritual and craft.
  • Calm, thoughtful and purposeful in your approach to work.
  • Collaborative and generous, with a desire to help others do their best work.
  • Curious and culturally aware, with an eye for quality and nuance.
  • Motivated by building something meaningful over time, not chasing trends for their own sake.

Why Join JENKI

  • Play a key role in shaping the voice of the UK’s most exciting modern matcha brand.
  • Work closely with founders and senior leaders, with real influence over brand direction.
  • Balance hands-on creative work with strategic thinking and people management.
  • Be part of a growing business that values quality, care and long-term thinking.
  • Work in a collaborative, creative environment where ideas are valued and craftsmanship matters.

Inclusion

At JENKI, we believe different perspectives make brands stronger and communities richer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences. Even if you don’t meet every requirement listed, we’d still love to hear from you if this role excites you.
