About the role
As Senior Graphic Designer, you will lead the creative output of the design team from concept to execution, ensuring high aesthetic standards across image, type, motion and illustration. This hands-on role involves providing creative direction, mentoring designers and fostering a positive studio culture.
Working within the Design & Interpretation Studio, you’ll collaborate with 3D design and interpretation teams to deliver innovative, contemporary design that reflects the richness of the museum’s displays and collection. You’ll play a key part in rolling out the museum’s new brand identity and act as a brand guardian, supporting strategic goals that amplify our work and values. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major process of renewal and transformation and shaping memorable visitor experiences.
About you
You’ll bring solid experience in graphic design, with the ability to guide and mentor others. Your portfolio will demonstrate high‑quality, detail‑driven work across major projects, and you’ll be confident using Adobe Creative Cloud to develop and present compelling design concepts. Highly organised and adaptable, you’ll manage multiple deadlines, collaborate effectively across teams, and support junior designers. With strong communication skills and a proactive, creative mindset, you’ll help shape the Museum’s evolving visual identity.
Key areas of responsibility
- Work on high-profile, large-scale projects to deliver creative design solutions across brand, editorial, marketing, campaigns, and content for print, digital, and spatial channels.
- Research, develop, and prototype ideas, creating adaptable visual approaches that align with the Museum’s identity and audience needs.
- Produce assets for multiple formats, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure quality and consistency throughout projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues across design, interpretation, marketing, and exhibitions, while guiding and delegating tasks to other designers.
- Maintain strong relationships with external partners, apply motion design skills, and produce brand guidelines and documentation.
- Lead projects with accessibility and sustainability in mind, and commit to continuous professional development.
