Job Description
We’re looking for a mid–senior CG / motion artist to join our in-house VFX & Motion team at M3 Labs.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building things, solving visual problems, and taking work from start to finish. You’ll be trusted to own your output, make sensible decisions, and contribute to the quality of the work without needing heavy oversight.
What the role involves:
Day to day, the role is focused on building CG shots and sequences from end to end. That includes blocking, staging and layout, animation, composition and framing, as well as creating dynamic systems and simulations where needed.
You’ll be responsible for prepping and building assets, combining multiple elements into visually complex and well-crafted imagery, and handling tasks such as grooming where a project calls for it. From there, you’ll take shots through lighting, texturing, shading and final look development, before managing renders and the technical due diligence required to deliver work reliably.
Throughout the process, the expectation is that you can think both creatively and technically — making sensible decisions, testing approaches when needed, and spotting potential issues early so they don’t become problems later in the pipeline.
While this isn’t a dedicated compositing role, you’ll be expected to be comfortable slap comping your own work for review and QC, helping out with lighter compositing tasks on larger projects when needed, and understanding how your renders will be used downstream. A solid grasp of colour management is important, including working with ACES across Houdini, Cinema 4D, Redshift and After Effects.
This isn’t a management role from day one, but over time there may be opportunities to help guide or support a junior 3D artist. For now, the focus is on being hands-on, dependable, and someone others can rely on to get things done properly.
Key responsibilities:
- Build CG shots and sequences from concept through to final delivery
- Block, stage and layout shots with strong composition and framing
- Create animation, systems and simulations to support creative intent
- Prep, build and combine assets into visually complex imagery
- Handle lighting, texturing, shading and final look development
- Manage rendering and technical due diligence for reliable delivery
- Slap comp work for QC and support light compositing when needed
Requirements:
- At least 4 years of active industry experience
- A strong showreel demonstrating your personal contribution
- Strong working knowledge of Houdini, Cinema 4D and Redshift
- Comfortable working in After Effects when required
- Good understanding of colour management and ACES workflows
- Self-sufficient, dependable and comfortable owning work end to end
- Enjoys collaborating and solving creative and technical problems
How we work:
- Small, senior in-house team
- CG-led motion and live-action VFX projects
- Hybrid and remote working supported
- Straightforward communication and low-ego collaboration
