Job Description

About Us

Jointly is a creative agency working with the UK construction supply chain. We help building product manufacturers, distributors and tool hire companies look sharp and stand out through branding, web, copy, email and print.

We're looking for a freelance email designer to help deliver email work for our clients on a flexible basis.

About the role

You'll design email campaigns for our clients, taking them from concept through to polished, responsive, on-brand layouts. Work comes in waves depending on client demand, so we're after someone reliable and flexible rather than tied to fixed hours. Some weeks will be busy and others quiet, and we'll always give you as much notice as we can.

What you'll do

  • Design email campaigns in Figma, from layout and hierarchy through to a clean, build-ready handoff
  • Create responsive layouts that hold up across the major clients and devices
  • Work within each client's brand guidelines whilst keeping things clear and effective
  • Design around the real-world quirks of email, so your work renders properly in Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail and everything in between
  • Work with our team on briefs, feedback and revisions

What we're looking for

  • Excellent Figma skills, since this is where you'll do your design work
  • A strong grasp of email responsiveness and how layouts behave across different screen sizes
  • Real knowledge of email client limitations and how to design around them, particularly Outlook's rendering and the differences between clients like Gmail and Apple Mail
  • A sharp eye for clean design that serves the message rather than fighting it
  • Clear communication and reliability, which matter all the more with freelance, demand-led work
  • Based in the UK time zone, or close enough to overlap comfortably with our working day

Nice to have

  • Email coding capabilities: being able to hand-code your designs into responsive HTML and CSS. It isn't essential, but it's a real plus.
  • Experience designing for B2B, trade or industrial brands

How we work

This is a freelance role that flexes with client demand, so there's no fixed weekly commitment. It's fully remote, and we just ask that you're in or near the UK time zone so collaboration stays easy.

How to apply

You'll need to be happy to take on a short test task as part of our process, so we can see how you work and you can get a feel for us. It's paid and capped at four hours. From there, we'll talk through how we'd work together. Click the button below to apply through our website.
