Senior Art Director
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading digital creative studio for a Senior Art Director to shape how image-led storytelling and brand experiences are conceived and delivered. The studio operates at the intersection of technology, product, and communication, translating complex ideas into visual experiences that feel immediate, human, and emotionally resonant.
This is a rare opportunity for a visually driven creative leader with a sharp eye for contemporary culture and a deep understanding of how photography, film, illustration, CGI, and motion work together to build coherent, distinctive brand worlds.
The studio is envisioning this initially as a freelance engagement spanning several months, with capacity ranging from 50–100% depending on the right candidate. There is a clear possibility of transitioning into a permanent position for the right person. The role can begin fully remote, but candidates should be based in, or open to relocating to one of the studio's European office locations.
What You'll Do
- Lead art direction across brand and studio projects from conception through to final delivery
- Define the visual world of a brand through image-led storytelling across photography, film, illustration, CGI, and motion
- Develop clear image-making principles covering mood, casting, styling, lighting, composition, and post-production direction
- Direct photoshoots, filmed productions, and CGI workflows from treatment to delivery
- Own quality control across retouching, editing, grading, and final asset output
- Source and collaborate with external creative partners - photographers, filmmakers, 3D artists, illustrators, sound designers, ensuring every output feels intentional and aligned with the broader brand vision
- Stay ahead of cultural movements, visual trends, AI-enabled production methods, and emerging technologies
- Articulate and present creative direction clearly and confidently to internal teams and clients
- Help shape image art direction as a discipline within a multidisciplinary studio context, contributing to broader brand processes and visual narratives
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of experience within a creative agency, production company, or in-house brand team
- A robust portfolio demonstrating the ability to shape compelling ideas with impeccable craft and taste — ideally with a focus on tech and digital experiences
- A keen understanding of screen-based brand expression and storytelling through design and image
- Excellence in both creative and technical skills, with a deep understanding of the full production process: pre-production, on-set, and post-production
- A pragmatic and holistic approach — able to collaborate across teams to keep ideas feasible while maintaining alignment with brand strategy and high standards
- A collaborative, inclusive working style that energises the people around you
- The ability to work independently and proactively within a cross-disciplinary team
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma; experience with motion graphics, generative tools, and/or 3D design is a strong plus
