Job Description
About the role
As a Strategist at forpeople, you’ll help shape the thinking behind the brands, products and experiences we create for our clients.
Working as part of multidisciplinary teams across design, research and experience, you’ll turn research, data and cultural insight into clear and compelling strategic ideas. That might mean helping define a brand positioning, exploring changing consumer behaviours, shaping a future vision, or developing the frameworks and narratives that give creative teams a strong direction.
We’re looking for a thoughtful and creatively minded strategist who enjoys making sense of complex challenges and finding the opportunity within them. Someone who combines rigorous thinking with creative instinct, can articulate a clear point of view and enjoys seeing their thinking come to life through the work.
What your day might look like:
- Conducting research across consumers, culture, brands, businesses and markets, using a mix of qualitative, quantitative and data-led methods
- Analysing and synthesising research and data to uncover meaningful insights, patterns and opportunities
- Developing brand positioning, propositions, frameworks, principles and narratives that give creative teams a clear foundation to work from
- Exploring trends, behaviours and emerging technologies to understand what they could mean for our clients and the future
- Working closely with designers, writers, researchers and other specialists to connect strategic thinking with creative ideas
- Building clear and engaging presentations that communicate your thinking and tell a compelling story
- Presenting strategic thinking and recommendations to clients, responding to feedback and developing the work
- Contributing to client workshops, interviews, research sessions and other collaborative working sessions
- Contributing strategic thinking and research to pitches and wider studio initiatives
Who we'd like to find
Since 2004, we’ve grown from only four to over a hundred by finding the right people – people that don’t only slot right in to our studio culture, but bring something incredible to it.
This role calls for someone who brings:
- Big ideas — As a studio we work across visual, verbal, three dimensional and digital experiences – but the big idea is always the most important part of what we do. You're a conceptual thinker who can turn insight into ideas, spot interesting connections and help create strong foundations for the creative work.
- Strategic rigour — You approach challenges with curiosity and discipline, knowing how to ask the right questions, interrogate different sources and separate what's interesting from what really matters. Your thinking is considered, well evidenced and purposeful.
- Cultural & creative curiosity — You're interested in the world beyond the immediate brief – from culture and changing behaviours to business, technology and emerging trends. You draw inspiration from different places and are always looking for connections that could take the work somewhere interesting.
- Collaboration & communication — You enjoy working across disciplines and communicating your thinking clearly. You're confident presenting to clients, responding thoughtfully to feedback and collaborating with designers, writers, researchers and other specialists to create stronger outcomes.
Specifically, you'll have:
- Around 3-4 years’ relevant strategy experience, or equivalent evidence that you’re operating at this level (ideally, but not necessarily, within a creative, brand, design or innovation consultancy)
- Experience conducting and synthesising research using qualitative, quantitative and data-led methods
- Experience developing strategic outputs such as brand positioning, propositions, frameworks, narratives and future visions
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw and distil meaningful insights from different sources
- A good understanding of design and brand, and their role in driving positive business outcomes
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with experience building clear and engaging presentations
- Confidence presenting strategic thinking to clients, and contributing to workshops and collaborative sessions
- Experience working as part of multidisciplinary teams
