Job Description
Midweight Graphic Designer / Artworker
Location: West London (hybrid, minimum two studio days per week)
Salary: £35,000 to £45,000
The Company
Our client is a specialist medical technology marketing consultancy with an in-house creative team. They take complex medical technologies and turn them into clear, beautifully designed communications, and they care deeply about two things: the quality of the work, and the service they give their clients.
The creative team is growing. You'd be the third designer, joining an existing junior and midweight, with a clear and genuine path to Senior Designer within six to twelve months.
The Role
This is not a production-only artworking role. They're looking for a proper designer who also has excellent print craft: someone who can take a project from brief through to polished, print-ready, and digital-ready delivery, and who brings ideas and outside inspiration into the studio along the way.
The single most important skill is editorial and brochure layout. Much of the work involves dense, technical, or regulated content, and the successful candidate will be someone who can break that information into clear, engaging, digestible design through strong hierarchy, typography, and considered page layouts.
Day to day, you'll be:
- Designing and artworking brochures, branded assets, exhibition materials, sales tools, and educational content
- Taking ownership of projects from brief to final delivery, managing your own time across several jobs at once
- Developing new brand identities and applying established guidelines with care and consistency
- Retouching imagery and preparing properly finished, production-ready files
- Supporting and mentoring the junior designer, sharing your thinking and giving thoughtful feedback
- Collaborating closely with the account, content, and creative teams in a small, friendly studio
What they're looking for:
- A broad midweight designer, ideally with around 5 to 8 years' experience
- A portfolio strong in editorial and brochure design, with evidence of turning complex or information-heavy content into clear, engaging layouts (annual reports, corporate communications, technology, science, healthcare, or education work all translate well)
- Strong print artworking and a careful eye for detail, with finished, production-ready work in the portfolio rather than concepts alone
- Branding experience, both creating identities and working within them
- Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Genuine creative curiosity: someone who visits galleries, follows design culture, and keeps finding new references and better ways of working
- The maturity to run projects independently, and the warmth to help a junior colleague grow
- A collaborative, sociable personality who'll join shared studio days and contribute ideas, rather than treating this as a remote production job
Worth knowing: MedTech, healthcare, or regulated-sector experience is useful but absolutely not required. They're just as interested in someone from outside the sector who can bring a fresh, progressive visual approach and learn the technical detail on the job. A creative artworker could also be a strong fit, provided the portfolio shows real design judgement, typography, and conceptual flair rather than mainly adaptation and rollout.
Lovely to have: motion, animation, or presentation design skills alongside print.
The Offer
- £35,000 to £45,000, depending on experience
- A clear development path from midweight towards senior within six to twelve months
- Meaningful, varied work for companies improving how healthcare is delivered
- 25 days' holiday, plus your birthday off when it falls on a weekday
- Private health insurance available
- Flexible start and finish times, with a minimum of two days a week in the West London studio (more if you'd like)
