Job Description

An Overview of what you will be doing

The Marketing & Communications team at the Rothschild Foundation promotes Waddesdon Manor, its seasonal programmes, and its commercial activities across a wide range of digital and traditional channels. From strategic campaigns to day-to-day content, the team works to attract new audiences and engage returning visitors by showcasing Waddesdon Manor’s exhibitions, collections, grounds, and retail and hospitality offer.

This internship offers a practical introduction to marketing within a cultural and heritage setting. You’ll contribute to live campaigns, attend events, and work alongside an experienced team, gaining insight into how content, communications, and brand come together.

As an intern, you’ll support social media content and scheduling, website updates, and media activity such as drafting press materials. You’ll also contribute to maintaining Waddesdon’s brand across digital and print, developing skills in copywriting, proofreading, and content creation.

By the end of the internship, you’ll understand how a busy marketing team operates and gain experience across both campaign delivery and day-to-day communications, building a strong foundation for a future career in the sector.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone curious, proactive, and keen to contribute to the work of Waddesdon Manor. This role suits someone who is comfortable taking initiative, working independently when needed, and collaborating with others to bring ideas to life.

You’ll need strong communication skills, both written and visual, to help share Waddesdon Manor’s stories, events, and heritage in an engaging way. An interest in art, heritage, sustainability, or events will help you connect with the content you’re promoting.

You should be adaptable and organised, able to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. A positive, practical approach to problem-solving is important, particularly when things don’t go to plan.

We’re also looking for someone who is open and approachable, able to work with a wide range of people including visitors, staff, and volunteers, and contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Some familiarity with social media and confidence using tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook will be helpful, but you don’t need extensive experience—what matters most is your willingness to learn and get involved.

Skills you will gain

  • Content Creation – Learn how to craft engaging content across multiple platforms, including social media, the website, and print materials, helping bring Waddesdon’s stories, events, and heritage to life
  • Email Marketing – Receive training in HubSpot and develop the skills to set up, manage, and evaluate email campaigns that reach and engage audiences
  • Website Editing – Gain hands-on experience using WordPress to update and maintain website content, ensuring information is current, accessible, and compelling
  • Design – Use tools such as Canva to create visually appealing social media posts, on-site collateral, and promotional materials that showcase Waddesdon Manor’s rich heritage and events
  • Public Speaking & Presentation Skills – Build confidence presenting to groups, leading briefings, and communicating key information to both teams and visitors in a clear and engaging way
  • Copywriting and Proofreading – Develop your ability to write clear, persuasive copy and ensure all communications maintain Waddesdon Manor’s high-quality standards

This internship offers a unique opportunity to combine creativity, communication, and practical marketing skills in a historic, inspiring environment, giving you a strong foundation for a future career in the cultural or heritage sector.

Additional Opportunities

Alongside your hands-on experience, this internship offers a range of additional opportunities to enhance your skills and broaden your experience in marketing and communications:

  • Professional Development Courses – Complete a foundation certificate in professional and digital marketing, and undertake a copywriting course to strengthen your writing and content skills
  • Digital Skills Training – Gain practical experience with Google Analytics and Meta tools to better understand audience engagement and digital marketing strategies
  • Press and Media Experience – Attend press days, assist with photoshoots and filming, and support non-commercial filming projects, giving insight into how media campaigns are created and executed
  • Creative and Practical Exposure – Work on campaigns that combine creativity, storytelling, and technical skills, building confidence in both planning and delivery

These opportunities provide a well-rounded experience, giving you both the practical skills and professional development needed to kickstart a career in marketing, communications, or the cultural sector.

As part of the Pathways Internship, you will have the opportunity to participate in a three-day Intern Skills Workshop, designed to support your personal and professional development. This workshop will cover a variety of topics aimed at enhancing your skills, broadening your knowledge, and preparing you for future career opportunities.

In addition, you will be able to take part in staff and intern events throughout the year, providing valuable networking opportunities, insight into different roles across the organisation, and a chance to engage with the wider team. You will also have access to a training budget to support your learning and development, allowing you to attend relevant courses, workshops, or conferences.

To ensure you make the most of your internship experience, you will receive full one-to-one mentor support from the Pathways team. Your mentor will guide you through your projects, help you set and achieve personal development goals, and offer advice and encouragement as you explore potential career pathways.

Overall, this internship is designed not only to provide hands-on experience in a heritage setting but also to support your growth, development, and future career ambitions in a structured and supportive environment.
